Chapter 13 | Zuizhu

"If that's the case then the hit I landed on you was a fluke. You were wounded by Ruoshui, the wound must be bad. How is your injury?"

"Ruoshui?"

"That dagger, I call it Ruoshui." It was the same as his name in the organization in his previous life.

Wu Yao didn't speak. After a long time, he said, "Nothing."

"Take off your clothes." Since he felt bored, it would be good to look at Wu Yao's reaction. He was different from other killers, there seemed to be no ups and downs in his emotions, but Qi Mingyue still felt that as long as someone was human, they would have their own emotions. How could Wu Yao be an exception?

Wu Yao didn't ask why and didn't hesitate. He stood up and unhesitatingly began to undress. When his upper robe was all removed, the wound on his waist was apparent. It wasn't long, but it looked terrible. It hadn't healed completely and seemed particularly conspicuous.

It turned out that Ruoshui worked like this on people. Qi Mingyue studied the wound curiously for a while. Ever since he got Ruoshui, he hadn’t tested it out on people. In his previous life, he mostly used guns. Even when he used a dagger, it wasn't as sharp as Ruoshui. From seeing this, he was sure that most of the famous weapons were from ancient times and mechanical weaponry wasn't as good as the artefacts made by ancient craftsmen.

His fingertips prodded around the wound and felt Wu Yao's muscles tense under his fingertips. Qi Mingyue nodded in satisfaction, finally, he knew the effect. "Is it painful? I have some medicine for your injury, I would like to apply it on you. Is that okay?"

Wu Yao didn't respond. Qi Mingyue didn't know if it was a manifestation of hesitation, he just glanced at the wound a few more times and took out a few vials from his body. Taking one of them in his hand, he stuffed the rest back into his robes. During this entire process, Wu Yao neither changed his expression nor did he have a big reaction to the medicine vial he took out.

Qi Mingyue's tentative trial bore results. Wu Yao was really as he had guessed him to be, but his hands did not stop. He sprinkled the powdered medicine inside the vial on the older man's wound. All of his medicines were configured in the palace and their effect was largely

better than ordinary wound medicines. In a few days, his wound should be fully cured.

Waiting for Wu Yao to put his clothes back on, he could not see any change on Wu Yao's face, but Qi Mingyue keenly felt that his breath seemed to have softened. Looking down at the wound, Wu Yao said softly, "Thank you."

Compared to him, Chief Liu was a lot more talkative. Thinking of this, he couldn't help thinking of his Father Emperor. Qi Mingyue's character made him unable to wait for rescue. For the past few days, he had observed that Jing Huang had no joy which meant he hadn't gotten what he wanted.

It seemed that what he wanted was rather extraordinary, or he was unsuccessful in dealing with his Father Emperor, or...

With a bang, the door was kicked open. Jing Huang rushed in with an angry face and his entire body emitted a murderous aura. With a cold face, he sneered, "It seems that I still overestimated your status in that person's mind! Qi Xutian, in his eyes, can there be anything that can be valued by him?! He doesn't care about you at all! My Highness! I thought he loved you very much, but I never thought he wouldn't exchange that thing for your life, instead, he sent someone to destroy my Fenghua Palace!"

Qi Mingyue lowered his eyes and frowned. Father, Father, you really deserve to be my Father. Do you believe in my ability so much? Or you just don't care about me at all as Jing Huang said? Lifting his eyes again, he asked calmly, "I wonder what the Palace Master wanted to exchange me for?"

"Zuizhu." Through clenched teeth, Jing Huang spoke these words. He seemed to be frustrated at the situation.

Qi Mingyue raised his eyebrows, seeming very surprised, "It turns out that Palace Master wanted Zuizhu..."

Jing Huang heard him and rushed over to grab his shoulders in excitement. "Do you know where it is?" Over the years, he did not know how many people were sent to investigate, even his younger sister, Jing Fenghua could not detect its hiding place. There was a clue right now and it made him ecstatic.

With a wince, Qi Mingyue said aggrievedly, "If Palace Master had told Mingyue earlier that you wanted Zuizhu, we might have already obtained it."

"Quickly tell me where it is!" Thinking of Qi Xutian's love for this child, it was not strange that he knew Zuizhu's hiding place. He surprisingly hadn't thought of this earlier, this oversight left Jing Huang feeling very annoyed.

"If Mingyue knew that he would be safe after giving Zuizhu, he would have informed the Palace Master long ago but now, Father Emperor doesn't care about me. It seems that he didn't send someone to save me. If I told you the location of Zuizhu, once you obtain it, what would happen to me at that time? I would have offended Father Emperor and would be left outside the palace, never to go back. Wouldn't I have to live on the streets?"

Jing Huang didn't expect him to think so considerately. In order to take the bead, he naturally promised everything. "As long as Your Highness tells me where the bead is, I will send Your Highness back to the palace to prevent your Father Emperor from knowing you told me."

Did he think it was easy to deceive him since he was a child? If he really got the bead, how could Father Emperor not understand?

Jing Huang saw him staring and knew that he could not deceive this gifted and intelligent child. He was thinking of other ways to persuade him. Unexpectedly, Qi Mingyue's eyes turned, "Zuizhu is somewhere in the palace. Although I know where it is, even if I told Palace Master, it would take some effort to get it. Why don't you take me with you? Let's go to the palace together, then I will take it out for you secretly. Do you think it is good?"

Jing Huang looked at Qi Mingyue's eyes for a moment, he seemed to be considering and also analyzing whether he spoke the truth or not. After a while, he smiled, "Although I don't know if this is Your Highness' trick, but considering the fact that you are willing to use it in exchange for your own safety, I will believe it. But if Your Highness has the thought of deceiving me and ordering someone to take me down upon reaching there, I don't care about the number of lives I take."

Qi Mingyue smiled, "Palace Master is thinking too much. How could I take my own life as a joke?"

"That's good. Tomorrow, we will return to Ye Yao City and take Your Highness back to the palace." Jing Huang continued with a dark smile, "But before that, please take this." He took out a brocade box, opened it, and inside it was an ink-coloured bead.

"What is this?" Qi Mingyue knew that it definitely wasn't a good thing, he looked at the bead and asked Jing Huang.

Jing Huang seemed a little proud, "This is called Ya Qing, its colour is like ink and it tastes sweet. When consumed with human blood, it can increase skill and it also works as a supplement. Its magical effects aren't inferior to Zhizhu. This medicine is extremely rare, I have only three beads. Today, I will give it to Your Highness to express my heart."

"It's surprising that Palace Master is being so kind. I don't know what the effect of this Ya Qing is?" How could Jing Huang be so kind-hearted? Qi Mingyue looked at the pill carefully and saw that the blue colour appeared lustrous as it blended with the ink colour. It was like a black raven's feathers turning blue.

Jing Huang then put it on the table with cold eyes, "Ya Qing is medicine but it's also a poison. After taking it with a person's blood, the poisoned person will have dozens of attacks within three months. Each time, the same person's blood must be used as an antidote, otherwise, the poison would backfire and the poisoned person would spit out blood and die."

So, this is his purpose. "Palace Master really does things without any loopholes. If I really consume it along with someone's blood and return to the palace without that person's blood as an antidote, I would vomit blood and die. But if I do end up obtaining that bead, how can I be sure that Palace Master would not betray me? I want to know, whose blood does Palace Master intend to use?"

"Wu Yao." As soon as these two words fell, Qi Mingyue immediately understood his plan.

Sure enough, Jing Huang turned to Wu Yao who had been sitting on the side from beginning to end, and said, "You listen, when I get Zhizhu after entering the palace, you will listen to His Royal Highness for the next three months. You and I will leave together without delay if we don't get it," He turned his head and looked at Qi Mingyue, "This method is good. Your Royal Highness has Ya Qing, then I can rest assured."

If he didn't get the bead, Wu Yao would leave and without his blood as an antidote, Qi Mingyue would be harmed by Ya Qing and eventually die. If he actually obtained the bead, there would be no need to worry and Qi Mingyue wouldn't die.

Wu Yao responded with "Yes", then stretched out his wrist and swiped Ruoshui on his skin. Blood poured out and fell into a fine porcelain tea bowl on the table. He looked at the wound on his hand but he still had no expression. He seemed to be used to it and behaved as if he hadn't felt anything.

Qi Mingyue looked at this unexpected scene. When Jing Huang finally nodded his head with satisfaction, Wu Yao held his other hand over the wound and retracted his hand. His plain white sleeves were dyed red with blood, but he still remained unbothered. Jing Huang glanced at it and said coldly, "Don't bother, it won't stop bleeding."

Wu Yao slowly removed his hand from the wound, like a puppet with a string, one action per order.

The blood Jing Huang took as an antidote belonged to Wu Yao. Qi Mingyue couldn't help frowning, and realised that Wu Yao's breath seemed to be even emptier. He watched the pill fall into the blood and gradually melt away, turning into a bowl of cherry-coloured viscous liquid.

Qi Mingyue took a sip, it tasted a bit sweet. However, the rusty smell made him understand that it was indeed blood he drank. After seeing him drink, Jing Huang smiled in relief, "Your Royal Highness is really brave. Does the blood taste good?"

He couldn't help showing a cold smile. "Thank you, Palace Master, for your concern." He finally saw the man's cold-blooded madness and restrained the disgust in his eyes. He walked to the bed and said, "I'm going to rest, please help yourself." Pulling the thin quilt over himself, he turned over.

Jing Huang instructed Wu Yao, "Take care of His Highness, we will return to Ye Yao City tomorrow. Don't make any mistakes, do you understand?"

"Yes."

His unchanging voice came and then, he heard Jing Huang leave. Qi Mingyue sat up and called out, "Wu Yao."

"Yes."

"Come here."

Wu Yao approached him.

Qi Mingyue didn't say much, "Give me your hand." He pulled his wrist, took out the medicine bottle, and put on the medicine again. Seeing that the wound had completely stopped bleeding, he said lightly, "Okay, go."

Wu Yao sat back on the chair and heard the child on the bed ask in a tender voice, "Wu Yao, you can't see so how do you execute your tasks?"

"Feeling."

It turned out to be the same as a bat, Qi Mingyue internally commended.
