Chapter 31 | Unexpected Crisis

The teenager was lying face-down on the bed with his back facing the air, his legs were spread apart and his tender appearance was still immature. But His Majesty, with infinite love and devotion, gently licked and kissed his back, and his fingers pumped slowly between his buttocks, making a wet, alluring noise...

The young man turned his head slightly with a patient expression on his face and murmured intermittently with the movements behind him. His face full of erotic charm flashed before An Roulan's eyes.

She paled in disbelief and dropped the food box in her hand on the floor.

The youngster on His Majesty's bed was no one else! Not a male concubine! Nor was it an unknown man! It was the Second Prince, Qi Mingyue! Her prince, her son with His Majesty, Qi Mingyue! Qi Mingyue was only twelve!

She covered her mouth in disbelief, her chest churned and she couldn't control the feeling of disgust welling up within her. The two people on the bed had an intimate relationship that violated human morals, the scene was etched in her eyes and could no longer be eliminated. She recalled everything from the past - how His Majesty loved him, how he indulged him - the truth hidden underneath was like this!

Shock, anger, disbelief, fear, disgust... This indescribable feeling made her want to vomit, her whole body trembled as coldness spread. Her fear made the words in her memory jump into her heart again...

Bringing calamity, killing his mother, no descendants... He was the alien! The alien star that confused His Majesty!

Hearing the sound from outside, Qi Mingyue bit his lip and held back an impatient gasp. He turned his head to complain to Qi Xutian in a low voice, "If Father still wants to proceed, you should deal with it faster. It's hard for me to endure." No matter who it was - perhaps it was an assassin or a palace visitor that mistakenly entered, in short, that person must be eliminated.

As early as the moment she entered the hall of Xuantian Palace, a shadow guard had transmitted a message to Qi Xutian. He didn't care which concubine it was, if she saw anything, she would be killed anyway. Unexpectedly, it was her...

"When you have seen enough, get out." Qi Xutian narrowed his eyes slightly and said impatiently towards the place where she stood. For MingEr, he didn't intend to kill her.

An Roulan could hear that his voice was hoarse from lust, she thought of the intimate scene she saw before and couldn't help but blurted out, "Your Majesty... you both are father and son! How can-- how can this be?!"

The shrill cry came, as if being strangled, it was miserable and with a weird tremolo. Qi Mingyue heard her words and his eyes widened - it was Consort Mother who broke in? He glanced at Qi Xutian, backed away, handed over his father's robe, the two of them draped themselves with it and sat up.

Qi Xutian didn't move, hugged Qi Mingyue and let him lean in his arms. As if nothing had happened, he bowed his head and asked with a smile, "MingEr feels uncomfortable? This isn't the time to stop, would you like to continue later?"

Without waiting for Qi Mingyue to answer, An Ruolan rushed over to the curtain and pointed at the young man in his arms, her other hand was clenched into a fist, trembling, as if she couldn’t believe the things in front of her, "You-- you both really are--"

"You didn't see it clearly just now? Then, this time, watch carefully." With a malicious smile, Qi Xutian lowered his head and sucked on Qi Mingyue's neck, leaving a string of red marks. The hands resting on his waist were even more wanton and intentionally dove into the robe he was wearing, revealing Qi Mingyue's long, slender legs under it. Their fair complexion was marred with traces, extending all the way into his inner thighs shrouded under the robe. Qi Xutian's fingertips slowly slid along the curve of his legs and finally reached under the robe. It wasn't known what he did to make Qi Mingyue gasp and take his hand in dissatisfaction, "Father!"

It was really an accident that Consort Mother came in and saw these things. He didn't know how to explain it for a while. Could it be said that he and his father were in love with each other? With a sneer, he showed a slightly sarcastic smile, "Since Consort Mother has seen us, I have nothing to say. Father and I are like this, so what? He loves me and we're both willing. Whatever I do has nothing to do with you, might as well pretend you didn't see anything, lest you..." The words were left unspoken, but everyone knew the meaning.

With a pale face, An Ruolan watched incredulously as the two made such an intimate move in front of her without evading her. She didn't know what she felt like internally, it seemed as if all the blood had flown to her head and her mind had grown blank. Her empty eyes faced the pair of embracing father and son, "What love?! What glory?! This is what is hidden underneath! The father is not the father, the son is not the son, you-- you are just disgusting!"

Qi Mingyue's expression instantly turned cold at her words and he separated himself from Qi Xutian's arms, barefoot, he walked slowly towards her.

An Ruolan stared at him as he walked toward her. The twelve-year-old boy showed no sign of embarrassment as if the erotic marks weren't present on his white and tender neck. A single coat was worn over his body and his black hair was draped over his still sweaty chest, wet and casual, he approached her.

"I didn't want to hurt Consort Mother, but you just had to..." With his words, his cold expression became indifferent, his white and thin wrist touched her throat. His seemingly gentle movements carried the iciness of death.

An Ruolan only felt suffocated, she could only see the face in front of her filled with a regretful expression, but the force being exerted on her throat was clearly getting stronger. Soon, her vision became blurry and breathing could no longer be sustained. It became dark and she seemed to be falling into the abyss of death. In a trance, she heard words that seemed to be coming from a distance, the light voice held a hint of a smile "This time, Consort Mother must believe your child's words. It's easy to kill you, but you are my consort mother, after all. This body comes from you, so I will let you go once. As long as you know what to remember and what to forget, you will still be my Consort Mother and Mingyue will still be your son. What do you think?"

As his hands gradually relaxed around her neck, An Ruolan's limp body slowly fell to the ground. Her chest rose and fell as she gasped violently, stroking her neck, she coughed repeatedly, her pale face turned crimson and her bun had long since scattered.

Qi Xutian looked at this scene quietly, without any expression and held out his hand towards Qi Mingyue, "Not coming back to your Father yet?" He pressed Qi Mingyue's body on his lap and whispered in a low voice, "It's really a disappointment. I was going to eat my MingEr but was interrupted. You will let me continue..."

Hearing his words, Qi Mingyue's eyes flickered and his legs felt soft as they were really tossed before. He really regretted some of what he said earlier, moreover, he was no longer in the mood for this, so he smiled faintly he said, "Can Father Emperor not see that Mother is still here? What are you going to do with her?"

"She broke into Xuantian Palace without permission, just go and ask Liu Yi." He said offhandedly. His eyes peered into Qi Mingyue's robe and the tantalizing sight caused him to raise his lips. His hands began to move dishonestly again.

An Ruolan calmed down but kept her head down. Strangely, she didn’t say anything and murmured to no one in particular, "He's right, my son is dead. This is the abnormal star. It's a demon, he wants to kill me, he wants to kill me..."

Both the people on the bed heard her whisper and looked at each other in surprise. Who exactly was 'he' that An Roulan was referring to? Unexpectedly, Qi Mingyue remembered the figure of Han Ziqi passing by outside the Ningxi Pavilion.

An Ruolan leaned against the wall and stood up very slowly, her face was calm. Her eyes, however, were feral as she looked straight at Qi Mingyue, "Bringing calamity, killing his mother, no descendants... You've already brought chaos and still, you want to kill your mother?! You demon! You alien star!"

He brought chaos? Although he didn't believe in the ability to bring chaos that Tan Wu divined, even if he had this ability, he has no idea when or how he brought chaos? The world was so big, it would never be peaceful forever, so why should he bother with "chaos"?

[Indus: I'll be using chaotic (days) and (bringing) calamity interchangeably. They mean the same thing here.]

"Why did Consort Mother say this? Although I know Tan Wu said that, but I would never bring chaos and I don't want to kill you. As long as you pretend you never saw us today, Father and I would let you go back and continue. Wouldn’t it be good to be the prosperous Consort An? Why do you obsess over the idea of matricide?"

An Ruolan laughed harshly, her shrill laughter was like that of a ghost. "Never? Isn't it already in front of my eyes? You both are clearly father and son connected by blood but you made His Majesty do such unbelievable things, he's the monarch, the Son of Heaven! He was confused by you, isn't this is what chaos is?!"

Could Tan Wu's 'bringing calamity' have meant this? Didn't it mean disaster? Instead, it actually meant confusing the Emperor? He couldn't help but start questioning the Grandmaster's words. If he had known for a long time, why didn't he explain it? Or did he have limited knowledge and just presumed everything? But if he had told about this back then, then maybe him and Father wouldn't be like they were today. Most probably, he would have been assassinated by others while he was still in a swaddle.

Qi Xutian was also surprised, but then chuckled happily, "You see, MingEr, we are destined to be together."

Seeing that they were still this unscrupulous and so close to each other right in front of her, An Ruolan suddenly felt a twist in her heart. Full of malice, her hoarse voice trembled, and the feeling of disgust in her eyes gradually became stronger, "The ability to bring calamity, taking the life of your mother," She pointed at Qi Mingyue, "Let me tell you, I won't let you do it! You can't kill me!"

She seemed to have remembered something and suddenly calmed down. As she looked at Qi Mingyue, her eyes gradually cleared and her expression appeared full of determination. Seeing this, Qi Mingyue knit his brows together only to see her straighten her clothes and surprisingly, she recovered her usual gentle-like-water appearance.

Facing Qi Xutian, she said softly: "Your Majesty wants to see this concubine die in front of you so that I can't divulge your scandal? But fortunately, this concubine had foresight. Even if you want me to die, sadly, it's not so easy. Does Your Majesty want to know? What I actually did?"

A sly smile appeared on her face as she faced the two men, she continued leisurely, "Was the sweet soup tasted by you at my pavilion good? Then, there is something--"

Before she could finish her words, Qi Xutian's expression changed. Shadows flashed as they swept towards An Ruolan from his palm. She suddenly spurt a mouthful of blood and was pinned against the wall.

"Speak! Which poison was in there?! Where is the antidote?!" Qi Xutian's voice was filled with infinite fury as if he would kill her the next moment. Qi Xutian resisted the murderous intent rising in his heart and thought of MingEr. Although he took Zuizhu, the medicine hadn't been fully absorbed. If he encountered a highly toxic poison... although it won't cause death, it would severely damage his internal organs. It would be very harmful to him and he might become seriously ill. Thinking of this, his voice turned even colder, "If you don't say it, I'll make you live a life worse than death!" The words he spat out were bloodthirsty and its meaning could make people tremble but An Roulan, with blood still on her lips, smiled slyly, "There is no antidote. It's not poison, but gu!"

Seeing the shock in Qi Xutian's eyes, she laughed proudly, "If Your Majesty kills me, he would not survive!"

"What do you mean?"

"Don't you see it, Your Majesty? Behind you, your baby can't hold it anymore." The gleeful look in her eyes made Qi Xutian turn back abruptly only to see MingEr holding his chest, his face pale and trembling as he fell back on the bed. He was drenched in sweat and his convulsing appearance full of pain was several times more severe than when he was under the influence of Nian Chen, it was as if... he would die the next moment!

Indus' Notes:

• Gu - It's a legendary Chinese poison made by sealing several venomous creatures (such as snakes, scorpions, centipedes, etc.) in a container and forcing them to fight until a single survivor remains, which then consumes the other dead and defeated creatures, thereby concentrating all of their toxins into itself. It was used in black magic as per Chinese folklore. Might be different here, though.
